Anyway, I'm still alive. Things have just been very busy since before Anime Fest (Labor Day Weekend). Nick and I have been staying with Rachael and Mike at Rachael's parents' house, since they're on vacation and need house-sitters. It's a beautiful house, and their dogs, Willis and Maxine, are the sweetest pooches ever. They're black mini-schnauzers, and have the most gentle, cute personalities. I'm going to miss them. ;___;

Uhhh, Anime Fest was awesome and amazing, because Nick and I did interpreting for the Japanese guests! The three main guests were Murase Shukou, who is my favorite Japanese artist; Satou Dai, who is incredibly friendly and sweet; and ABe Yoshitoshi, the creator of Serial Experiments LAIN, Haibane Renmei, etc. Satou-san (I'm going to refer to the Japanese guests with 'san', because it feels strange to call them Mr. ~~ or by their first names) was definitely the most personable, but I think I'm going to have to marry Murase-san. &hearts &hearts &hearts He's very quiet and reserved, but he has such amazing talent, and he's really quite sweet. He gave me two autographed, poster-sized prints of his own Gundam Wing illustrations! These aren't even available in print anywhere! I thought I was going to cry when he gave them to me; I'm just so in love with his style!!! *_*

Satou-san has the cutest personality of any Japanese guy I've ever met. He likes to joke around and have fun, but he's also incredibly smart and creative. After interpreting for one of his and Murase-san's panels, and for an interview with those two, I REALLY want to see Ergo Proxy! It seems like one of those stories that really makes you think, and the art os, of course, beautiful.

ABe-san was very quiet, but also very nice. I think he might have been the hardest to understand of the three, since he speaks rather quickly and quietly. Nick and I interpreted in one of ABe-san's panels, though, and between the two of us I think it went well. :) Abe-san brought a friend of his, Yukari-san, along to Dallas. It seems she went with him last year, as well. She was really sweet, and drew both Nick and I pictures as thanks for interpreting! I still need to draw something to send to her. :D After the convention, ABe-san gave Nick and I autographed copies of three of his books!! X_X I just about died. One of them is a compilation of tutorials for three of his pieces, from start to finish. ABe-san doesn't know if it will be translated into English or no, so Nick volunteered to do it. I said I would help, but I know how Nick likes his projects. :) The second book is almost entirely images, and there are only 10 or 11 copies of it in the US. O_O I feel very lucky. Lastly, is a huge, poster-sized book of illustrations; they're just gorgeous!

Nick and I also did a little interpreting for United Fellas, the band that performed at the convention. Unfortunately, the photo in that link doesn't show all the band members. :( On the far left is Tsuchie-san, who was so friendly and fun. It was really amazing to meet the guy who did the Samurai Champloo soundtrack!! Next is Ishii-san, who plays the meanest guitar I've heard in a long time. He even played some Bob Marley during rehearsal, which immediately won my love! &hearts Next is Takano-san, who was very nice, ad took photos of the crown from on-stage (it was his first trip overseas!). I thought that was very cute. ^_^ The last guy in the photo might be Hiderow, since I don't recognize him, and he was the only one I didn't meet. Abe-san was rather quiet, as was Kusama-san. Mayumi-san was very cute and sweet, though I couldn't tell if the ditziness was real or an act. It's hard to tell with Japanese girls... Finally, Kogure-san, who got a big hug from me when we all said our goodbyes. He played acoustic and electric guitar at the concert, and he really went all-out; I don't think the guy stopped moving once while he was on-stage! XD Afterwards, he said that he was a little embarrassed, for acting like such a spaz, but I assured him that the audience really appreciated his enthusiasm! &hearts

Well, I'll write more later when I have a chance. I'm going to head off the catch a bus to Boulder now, where I'm meeting Rachael for kung fu. Then we're driving up to the Marriott Tech Center for Nan Desu Kan. I hope I find some Honey Canon doujinshi there...
