Sorry I didn't post sooner. Saturday at 11:45 Pam and Roberta from GPA-Nashville came by our house with three wonderful boys - Pete, Joe Buk, and Storm. It was incredibly hard to pick which of them to adopt. Pete is petite for a boy, sweet as can be, lazy and quiet. All wonderful traits. :) He seemed more like a good dog for a first-time greyhound owner, though, and he looked so much like Guy, who we lost a few weeks ago, that we decided against him. It was a tough call between Joe Buk and Storm, so we asked Pam and Roberta which one would have a harder time getting adopted. They said that in normal circumstances, Joe probably would (he's all black with just a couple white markings), but Storm was in fine form, chewing on everything in sight, and that bad behavior wouldn't earn him points with possible adopters. Joe Buk had also gotten a couple growls from our mixed breed, Azu, so we thought that Storm might be a better choice. He's still a pup - he'll be three in April - so he's been a handful so far. He's proven himself very clever, though, and has already shown improvement. :) He has a lot of potential!

Storm looking like he's in a wind storm.

He figured out pretty quickly to use his paws when chewing on a Kong.

Azu says, "Who is this badly behaved interloper?"

So many toys to choose from...

More Kong.

He likes destroying toys. XD

I love his chocolate brown nose. :)

Haha, they are a LOT of work! But very much worth it if you have the time to devote to them. :)

He looks lovely! It must be so exciting having a new pup around the house.

I always wanted a dog....

It's exciting, and very tiring, hehe. He doesn't know ANY house rules - well, he didn't a few days ago - so has to be constantly supervised. Thankfully, his crate should be arriving tomorrow, so I don't have to lock him in the bathroom with me when I take a shower! ;3

Oh, I'm over the road, babysitting for the neighbour. They used to have a Great Dane for a few months and....he just couldn't be left alone. They still have a hole in the wall where he ATE IT AWAY. And kongs? Not indestructible XD
But I felt bad for him. He was a puppy but he was big, so I think the kids didn't understand it. They teased him with their toys and shouted at HIM when the toys got chewed. He got left home a lot too, because there was only one parent and three kids. And the mother worked full time running a salon. So he was incredeibly lonely and didn;t get nearly enough excercise. But he was way to strong for me to trust my ability in walking him, or I'd have done it for them.
Also, the young boy didn't like him. At all. He just couldn't cope with Arnie's size and energy.

It was sad to say goodbye, but I was so pleased for him. He was loved very much (by most of the family), but he didn't get the time or attention he really needed....

So er... yeah XD Yey for crates XD \o/

Does he get on well with Azu?

Aw, poor pup? :< Did they bring him to a shelter or something? It's so sad when people don't teach their children how to behave with animals, then blame the animal for any bad behavior.

They get along find most of the time, but it turns out that Storm is food aggressive and a bit toy aggressive. We have to keep them somewhat separated when there's food around, and keep an eye on him when he's playing with toys. We have to teach the little punk that snapping at her is just not acceptable behavior. He's had a few time outs so far. >:[ Hopefully he will catch on about that as quickly as he's been learning other things.

He was sent to a lady with a lot of land and another Great Dane or two until she found him a better home. Sadly I don't know where he is now :(

Haha, well, like you say, hopefully it's one of the things he'll learn quickly. Does she put her foot down with him?
21st-Jan-2009 02:53 am (UTC)
Well hopefully he found a good forever home. &hearts

Haha, no, she's a total sissy. She plays really rough with other dogs, but as soon as anyone shows a sign of real aggression, she gets really scared. I wish she would kick his ass. ;P

Haha, \i wonder how you can teach a dog confidence building and self defense?
21st-Jan-2009 05:53 pm (UTC)
Haha, i don't know if you can. >_>;;

He is quite cute. :) Thanks!

Oh, yay! What a cutie. I'm so glad. :D

Incidentally, I did mail off those sketches well before Christmas, so if you haven't got them by now I must assume they've been lost in the mail. Can you email me your address again? I may have taken it down incorrectly.

Oh, I'm so sorry! I did get them (they're right here on my desk), and I thought that I had mentioned it. With everything that happened this holiday season, I've been pretty forgetful. Sorry. ^^; I've been meaning to write you a letter back...

I like Rhiannon's hair a lot in the image where they're sitting - it does look a bit spiky in the first drawing. Hehe, and the one of Duo, Kakashi (I think?) and the other character is cute! XD
22nd-Jan-2009 01:20 am (UTC)
Don't worry about it; you've had a lot going on. ^_^ I'm glad they arrived safely. Oh, and the third character in that last one is Ranma. :P I realised one day that Ranma and Duo have extremely similar general character design, so I wanted to draw them together, and then thought of that idea, and of course the only person who could actually get past Ranma and Duo's reflexes would pretty much have to be a ninja. Hence Kakashi. :P

I thought I recognized him, but couldn't place where I'd seen him. They do have very similar hair styles...

He's adorable, and I can't wait to meet him. :D

I bet by the time you visit he will be quite well behaved. *punches hand against fist and cracks knuckles*
